Dr Ginks first qualified in 2000, from the University of London. He soon focused on cardiac conditions, training at St Thomas’s Hospital and St Bart’s Hospital in London, entering the specialist register for Cardiology in 2012.
An appointment as a consultant cardiologist at Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital followed in 2013, where Dr Ginks still offers invaluable support.
He has specific expertise in treating patients with heart rhythm problems. This includes carrying out and analysing ECGs, heart rhythm studies, blood pressure monitoring and echocardiography (cardiac ultrasound).
Patients with conditions such as atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter or supra-ventricular tachycardia are often treated through Dr Ginks clinic. Using minimally invasive techniques whenever possible, such as catheter ablation.
Dr Ginks is equally adept at the use of loop recorders, pacemakers, implantable defibrillators (ICD) and other modern treatment. Above all, he seeks to provide care in a stress free, consultative way.
His wish is to completely understand each patient’s condition, to ensure they receive the best treatment, feel well again and enjoy their life.
Research & Teaching
Dr Ginks is actively involved in clinical research and well published. He edited the Oxford Textbook of Medicine chapter on cardiac arrhythmia and is a reviewer for Circulation, Europace and the European Journal of Cardiac Failure.
The focus of Dr Ginks current research is cardiac resynchronisation therapy. He is a principal investigator in Oxford, on the smart AF trial for catheter ablation of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation.
