Dr Mittal qualified in medicine from Agra University in India, in 2006. His specialist training took place in the UK, studying internal medicine in Sheffield, followed by specialised gastroenterology training in Oxford.
In 2022, Dr Mittal was admitted to the GMC’s Specialist Register in Gastroenterology & General Internal Medicine. NHS consultancy posts ensued at Oxford University Hospitals, which he maintains alongside his work at the Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital.
Patients appreciate the personal care he provides across a number of gastrointestinal conditions, along with his expertise in diagnosis.
Dr Mittal offers upper and lower endoscopic procedures, conducting around 2,000 annually. He is a nationally accredited bowel cancer screening colonoscopist, recognised for the quality of his work.
Where investigation leads to treatment, Dr Mittal focuses on the needs of his patients and the best possible route to see them return to health.
Research & Teaching
Dr. Mittal actively contributes to research on inflammatory bowel disease and colorectal cancer. He also shares his skills with the next generation of gastroenterologists as an endoscopy trainer and contributes to his profession at a national level.
He is the Regional Representative for Oxfordshire, on the British Society of Gastroenterology Clinical Services and Standards Committee. His role as Regional Specialty Adviser for the Royal College of Physicians adds further value.
