Mr Pyrovolou graduated in medicine in 1999, from the Aristotelion University of Thessaloniki. His wish to specialise in orthopaedics took him to Attikon University Hospital of Athens for several years, before further training in the UK.
A combined Neurosurgical and Orthopaedic Spinal Fellowship began with a year at Cardiff University Hospital, then a further two years at Oxford University Hospital.
Mr Pyrovolou entered the GMC’s specialist register for trauma and orthopaedic surgery in 2010. Leading to a consultancy career where he focuses on conditions of the spine, including spinal trauma, deformity and spinal tumours.
A medical field where specialised knowledge is uncommon and important to the patients he supports. Our spine is both complex and vital, with treatment requiring great skill to reduce any risk of damaging the spinal cord.
The care Mr Pyrovolou takes with diagnosis and treatment is matched by his kind and caring nature, a combination welcomed by his patients.
Research & Teaching
Mr Pyrovolou is the clinical and educational supervisor of orthopaedic spinal registrars at Great Western Hospital. He is also the clinical supervisor of post CCT spinal fellows in Oxford University Hospitals.
Helping to support the future is important to Mr Pyrovoloue, he has been a faculty member of FRCS Oxfords Millers training course since 2010.
