Prioritising Children’s Needs

A team of highly skilled consultants from a range of specialisms look after children’s health and wellbeing in a safe, family friendly and supportive environment.  These include specialists in speech and language therapy and paediatric allergy.

A wide range of conditions are treated including puberty and growth problems, seizures, allergies, ear, nose and throat issues, autism and learning and behavioural difficulties.

Compassionate care and a thorough understanding of your child’s issues ensure an accurate diagnosis. X-ray, ultrasound, MRI and blood tests are all available on site if needed to provide diagnostic evidence and to allow for prompt treatment.

Following a diagnosis a detailed treatment plan will be put in place and the child, parents or carers will be kept involved at every stage of progress.

Alongside key guidelines for paediatric care your child’s health, growth and development will always be a priority.

Autism Diagnosis & Treatment

Receiving an autism diagnosis for a child can be an important step in being able to receive extra help and support, particularly at school.

Parents or carers may have recognised issues they have been concerned about that have affected their child’s behaviour, whether this in is a very young child or an older adolescent. Our specialist team understand this can be a stressful and worrying time for the family.

Having an autism diagnosis can often be reassuring and lead to a better understanding for you and your child.

Our autism diagnosis is provided by a consultant paediatrician and speech & language therapist, both with extensive experience of autistic spectrum disorders.

The main assessment session, designed for children typically aged 4 to 16, is based on the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule-2 (ADOS-2).

This approach uses play-based activities for younger children and more structured tasks for teens. Additional diagnostic tools, such as cognitive evaluations or genetic testing, can also be used to aid the diagnosis.

Observations and input from the session are shared with parents or caregivers, along with a detailed written report.

Appointments can also be scheduled to discuss medical needs. Our priority is finding the best path for each child, with ongoing support available at our hospital.

Paediatric Allergies

Our dedicated paediatric allergy consultant diagnoses and treats allergies in children, along with our team of paediatric consultants that also have experience in this area.

Our consultants use diagnostic tests including biochemical screening, vitamin deficiency testing and skin prick testing to help understand and diagnose the causes of the allergy.

Some of the allergic conditions that are treated include hayfever, eczema, asthma and food allergies such as an intolerance to nuts and dairy products.

Symptoms can often include itching, sneezing coughing, watery eyes and skin rashes, and in very severe cases, anaphylaxis.

In all cases our paediatric team will provide great care and support to children and their parents or carers, creating a personal treatment plan and focusing on improving the quality of life for your child.

Consultation & Other Fees

In most cases, if you are meeting your own costs, you can self refer directly to one of our paediatric consultants.

Patients using medical insurance covering younger family members should be fine, as our consultants work within acceptable fee levels. Consultations typically cost between £150 and £250.

Where specific requirements are being met, such as autism assessment, we are always clear on cost at an early stage. The same applies to all forms of paediatric treatment.

Our consultants are renowned, senior physicians or surgeons. They will be on the General Medical Council’s specialist register, along with belonging to specialist bodies.

As importantly, they are here because they share our patient first ethos. To request an appointment with a consultant, or an autism assessment, please use use the form, email link, or phone number below.
